Assynt is the Highlands in microcosm. Although only about 400 square miles, it contains a huge variety of terrains from lush machair land to moonscape mountain tops. The mountains themselves are all stand-alone monuments, each with a personality of its own. As the pictures below will demonstrate, it is a photogrpaher's and painter's dream but it is also the prefect destination for anglers with 150 trout lochs, three renowned salmon rivers and when the weather permits, excellent sea-angling. Watersports enthusiasts, walkers, climbers and those who just want to unwind and do nothing are all well catered for.
